Foundations

BSS/OSS Core Concepts

Understand the fundamental architecture of telecom BSS and OSS systems, catalog-driven design, and the critical distinction between commercial and technical domains.

Sections

1.0

How We Got Here: The Evolution of Telecoms

An interactive map of the telecom industry: how each network technology unlocked new capabilities and services, how the industry converged, and the BSS/OSS stacks each generation left behind.

1.1

BSS vs OSS

What BSS and OSS actually are, what they own, and why the boundary between them matters.

1.2

Commercial v Technical

The critical split between what the customer sees and what the network delivers.

1.3

Catalog-Driven Architecture

Why modern telco systems are catalog-driven, and how catalogs control everything from sales to activation.

C2M, L2C and T2R: The Three Clocks

The three end-to-end value streams a transformation typically addresses, what each one produces, and why each can only ever be as good as the one before it.

1.5

L2C and Sub-Domains

The L2C master process decomposed into L2O, O2A, and O2C — plus the companion Trouble-to-Resolve (T2R) process covering ITSM and service assurance.
