What this is
BSS/OSS Academy is an educational reference on telecom BSS and OSS architecture, operated by Nick Mudie. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or speaking for TM Forum or any vendor described on it.
Using the content
You may read the material, quote it with attribution, and link to it freely. You may use it as pre-read or onboarding material inside your own organisation, and cite it in internal documents.
You may not republish substantial parts of it as your own, sell it, incorporate it into a commercial training product, or use it to train a machine-learning model, without written permission. If you want to use it in a way this does not obviously cover, ask — nickymudie@hotmail.com — the answer is usually yes.
Ownership
The written content, diagrams, quiz material, worked examples and code on this site are the copyright of Nick Mudie, except where they reproduce a standard or a third party’s material. TM Forum terminology — eTOM, SID, ODA, the Open API specifications — belongs to TM Forum and is used here descriptively, under no claim of ownership. Vendor names and trademarks belong to their respective owners and appear for identification only.
Accuracy, and its limits
The material is written carefully but is educational, not advisory. It is a description of how these architectures generally work, not a recommendation for your estate. Standards change, vendors change their products, and any specific claim can go out of date.
Nothing here is professional advice, and no decision with commercial or technical consequence should rest on it alone. The site is provided as is, with no warranty of accuracy, completeness or fitness for a particular purpose, and no liability is accepted for a decision taken in reliance on it.
Vendor descriptions
Vendors are described factually — coverage, strengths, known limitations and typical deployment patterns — from public documentation and general industry knowledge. Descriptions are not endorsements and are not commissioned or reviewed by the vendors named. If you represent a vendor and believe something here is factually wrong, write to nickymudie@hotmail.com with the correction and it will be reviewed.
Accounts and restricted areas
Some material is available only to named reviewer accounts. If you hold one, keep your credentials to yourself, do not share access, and do not redistribute restricted material. Accounts may be suspended without notice where these terms are breached.
What you submit
Feedback submitted through this site may be published on it, in whole or edited for length, alongside the name and role you supply. Do not submit anything confidential, anything belonging to someone else, or anything you would not want published. Submissions can be removed at any time, at your request or at ours.
Availability
This is a personally operated site. It carries no uptime commitment, and content may be added, changed or withdrawn at any time.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising from them.
