Microsoft / G42 Olkaria geothermal data centre (East Africa cloud region)
A geothermal-powered campus at Olkaria that G42 was to design and build to host a new Microsoft Azure East Africa region, announced in May 2024 at 100 MW initially and up to 1 GW. In May 2026 it was reported stalled because Kenya lacks the grid capacity, and it missed its May 2026 target.
